- Have starred (*) items accessible.
- For
maximum warmth and adaptability, you should dress in
layers. Choose your jacket so that once you
have long underwear, T-shirt, long sleeved shirt,
and a sweater on, the jacket will keep you
comfortable and warm at the coldest temperature you
think may occur. That way you can add or
remove layers and always remain comfortable and
prepared.
- Place heavy
items near the top of your pack. This will
keep the weight above your center of gravity.
- Count
on 1 gallon (4 L) of water per person, per day. This
includes water for washing up and in meals.
Try to drink 2 quarts (2 L) of fluids during the
day. Dehydration sucks
